Your acne has settled, but it left depressed scars, enlarged-looking pores or dark marks. Strong sun, humidity and long hours outdoors in Ho Chi Minh City can make marks fade slowly. If you are searching for acne scar treatment Saigon, this guide explains the options a licensed dermatology clinic can offer, how many sessions are usually involved and how to care for your skin afterwards at HR07 Beauty Clinic.

Marks or scars? Know the difference

  • Red or brown marks after acne: the skin surface is flat; the colour comes from inflammation or extra pigment. These often fade over time with good sun protection.
  • Depressed (atrophic) scars: the deeper skin layer lost collagen, so the surface dips. Common types are ice-pick, boxcar and rolling scars. They usually do not fill in on their own.
  • Acne that is still active: in most cases it needs to be controlled first, before scars are treated. See Acne treatment Ho Chi Minh City.

A first visit usually records scar type, depth, skin type and any medicines you take.

Options within HR07’s approved scope

Under HCMC Department of Health Decision 2151/QĐ-SYT, scar- and acne-related techniques HR07 may perform when indicated include:

  1. Microneedling with topical medicine for depressed scars (item 5.111): controlled micro-injuries that may stimulate collagen remodelling, combined with a topical product. Usually given as a series a few weeks apart.
  2. PRP (platelet-rich plasma) for depressed scars (item 5.99): a small amount of your own blood is spun to separate the plasma; it is often considered together with microneedling.
  3. IPL and LED for acne (items 5.37 and 5.107): used while acne is still inflamed, alongside medical treatment.
  4. Skin analysis (item 5.89): device-based photos to record a baseline and compare at follow-up.

What the evidence says, so expectations stay realistic: dermatology sources such as the American Academy of Dermatology describe microneedling as an option that may make depressed scars less noticeable, usually over several sessions. Studies of PRP added to microneedling report mixed but generally modest extra benefit. Change is gradual, and scars rarely disappear completely.

Who should be cautious

Tell the doctor if you:

  • have active infection, cold sores or inflamed acne in the area;
  • are taking or recently took isotretinoin;
  • tend to form keloid or raised scars;
  • are pregnant or breastfeeding;
  • have a bleeding disorder or take blood thinners (relevant for PRP).

Aftercare in Saigon weather

  • Expect temporary redness, mild swelling or pinpoint marks for a few days after microneedling.
  • Use broad-spectrum sunscreen (generally SPF 30 or higher) every day; sun can darken healing skin.
  • Avoid picking, scrubs and strong actives until the clinic says it is fine.
  • Contact the clinic promptly for blistering, pus, fever or pain that gets worse.

Planning around a short stay

Scar plans usually take several sessions spread over weeks or months. If you are in Saigon for a short trip, tell the doctor your travel dates at the first visit so the plan fits your schedule, or consider an assessment now and treatment on a later visit.
